Digital strategy, without the nonsense.

From developer to director to charity trustee to now: Shaun Hogg Digital Strategist. Not your conventional career path, but one with two consistent themes: digital and strategy.

Whether it was building websites for ecommerce companies, scoping and designing marketing projects or managing teams to help clients improve their social media, everything I’ve done has involved digital strategy. It’s meant I’ve seen what works in digital, but more importantly, I’ve seen what doesn’t.

What doesn’t work in digital is jargon — fancy buzzwords and industry terms used to sell you things you don’t need. What doesn’t work are fads, encouraging you to do something because everyone else is. What doesn’t work is inefficiency — spending time, effort and money on campaigns that are all but pointless.

None of that is what you want or need. What you want is someone to talk about digital in a language you understand; for someone to say, “here’s what works for you and here’s how to do it” in a way that makes sense. No baffling doublespeak or snake oil products. Just straightforward, no-nonsense help.

And that’s why I’m here now, talking to you as a strategist — to advise you on digital and help you grow your business, without the bullshit.

Types of work I do

‘Digital strategist’ is a broad term. It essentially means I can help with all kinds of digital-related things and tailor what I do so that it fits with exactly what you need. It also means I have working relationships with some of the best and brightest minds in digital, so if there’s something that I can’t help with, I’m able to put you in touch with someone that can.

Digital project delivery — From a website launch to a marketing campaign. I work with a team of people to help me deliver end-to-end projects, giving you a single point of contact that you’d expect from an agency, at a reduced cost.

Consultancy — A fresh pair of eyes to work alongside your in-house team or external agency; to see what’s working with your marketing and what can be improved for better results and reduced spend.  

Project scoping — Planning a large project or getting ready to procure a large web system can be daunting, especially if your team isn’t from a development background. I work with you to effectively (through normal human talk) weed out the system requirements and turn it into a formal brief to request tenders from suppliers.
